Does every player make a team?
No. Not all players will make a team. Millennium FC is a competitive soccer club, and some players may not make a team. Please refer to our website for more information on competitive soccer, and knowing if competitive soccer is right for your child.
Will my coach remain the same?
Not necessarily, while we make an effort to keep coaches with the same teams, we also know that there are certain circumstances where this may not be possible. After each season, all coaches are evaluated and team assignments will be made after tryouts are posted.
Are there training player opportunities?
Yes. Some players who show potential, but need additional training will be offered “training player” positions. Training players will practice with the team, but will not be eligible to play in tournaments. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information on training players.
Where do I purchase my uniform?
Being a local club, we like to support local businesses. We have teamed up with European Sports to source and print our uniforms and spirit-wear. If your child has been accepted to a team, you will be sent an email and notified by Facebook that the uniform store is open.
Where can I purchase spirit-wear? And when can I purchase it?
We are currently working with European Sports and items can be purchased here: European Sports
Do we need to notify anyone we are planning to attend tryouts?
Notification is not required. We want this to be a willful tryout. We want players with the drive to play competitively, learn soccer and parents who will support the players and club.
How do I find out if my child makes the team he/she tried out for?
You will be contacted via email or phone to let you know if you have made the team. If we cannot reach you via phone or email, your spot on the team will be given to the next player.
How long do I have to wait to commit?
If your child was selected to join MFC, you will receive an email/call no later than one week after tryouts welcoming you to the MFC family. You will be asked to accept the position via the website, if your child is going to commit to play for the club. At the same time, you will be asked to submit club fees.
Once we receive notification of your commitment and club fees, your child will be added to the team roster. You will receive detailed information from your coach or team manager about the next steps (i.e., uniform orders, picking tournaments, practice schedules, follow-up regarding any additional player paperwork needed for player cards) before the fall season begins.
Contact after Tryouts
You may be contact by your coach after tryouts asking about acceptance for tryouts but this will be the ONLY contact from Millennium FC. We respect families decisions and will not call/email multiple times to convince them to play for our club. We want to make sure that our players and families are with us because its a good fit.
How many players do you plan to accept?
Several of our existing teams may be adding players. We may also explore adding new teams. However, it is difficult to predict the number of players needed, number of total teams, and breakdown of age brackets until tryouts have been concluded.
Our focus is to provide boys and girls with a great playing experience at an affordable cost. We realize for kids to learn and develop, it requires commitment on behalf of players, coaches and parents. Thus, we are looking for competitive players and dedicated coaches. For Millennium Futbol Club (MFC) to field a team, we follow two basic guidelines:
I. Players have to be committed to learning and developing in the game of soccer.
II. Coaches must be passionate about developing soccer players and vetted by existing MFC staff.
We want consistency in both players and coaches. If we cannot meet these two requirements, we will not field a team just for the sake of growing the club and collecting funds.
What does a soccer season look like?
The fall season usually runs from August to early November, while the spring season usually runs from mid-March to late May. Over the winter, indoor practice and conditioning may occur. This helps children further develop their footwork, strategy play, and other identified areas.
During the fall and spring seasons, your child will practice two or three times a week, usually for two hours each evening. The frequency of practices will depend on the team members’ ages and coach’s recommendations.
Teams may play in “friendly” games against other soccer clubs in the Central Illinois area. Games may be played at the Millennium Futbol Club (MFC) fields or at the opposing soccer club fields. MFC staff and team managers will coordinate these games.
Teams will also play in two to four soccer tournaments each fall and spring season. These tournaments take place over the weekend. Many of the tournaments we attend take place in the Central Illinois area, but we have also found families enjoy attending one out-of-town tournament each season which would likely require an overnight stay.
How far is the furthest location we’d likely travel for a tournament?
There are several quality tournaments in Central Illinois to play in (i.e. Morton, Peoria, Champaign, Decatur, Springfield). We have also found most families enjoy an overnight trip and schedule at least one out-of-town tournament (i.e. St. Louis, Indianapolis, Rockford, Michigan, Tennessee). As the players progress, we feel the need to challenge the players with higher caliber teams which may warrant a trip further away.
Please do not hesitate to contact Millennium Futbol Club staff at [email protected] or explore this website for more information. Questions regarding tryouts can be emailed to [email protected].
What if my child cannot attend all the tournaments? Do I need to pay the full fee or can I only pay for the tournaments I can attend?
All players must pay the full tournament fee amount. No refunds on tournament fees
If we decide to not choose Millennium FC- will we get a refund?
In all cases, the commitment fee that is non-refundable under any circumstances. Special exceptions can be made if you are moving 50 miles outside of Bloomington, Illinois.
